May 1 visit to Macnamara Trail

Post date: May 3, 2013 2:04:41 AM

Ole and John visited the Macnamara trail on May 1, 2013. They saw about 30 species of birds. Highlights included a flock of Rusty Blackbirds, male Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers competing for mates, and a rare spring sighting of a Palm Warbler. Spring ephemeral wildflowers were abundant - Bloodroots, Hepaticas, Trout Lilies and Spring Beauties. They also saw two large turtles a Snapper and a Painted. A link to a nice slide show is posted on the Macnamara Trail Page.
